Montaz
pastor
Hi...I moved to Adelaide from the UK in 2018 when I took up my first pastorate here. My ministry at Dernancourt began in 2024.
I am passionate about expository Bible teaching and pastoring the flock of Christ. I am committed to making disciples, training and mobilising into the calling God has given to each member of His church. Historically, I am from a Baptist background but I have also had Charismatic exposure as well as various other denominations and theologies.
I love reading, especially theology and some of my favourite authors/preachers are D A Carson, Tim Keller and W. Grudem.
I came to faith at age 16, whilst at high school in England and almost immediately felt a call to preaching ministry. I worked in CAD/CAM engineering for 10 years before reading theology at Union School of Theology in Wales. I then pastored a Baptist church in Kent and then in Wales, before being called to pastor here in Adelaide.
I feel a great sense of excitement at what the Lord is doing at Dernancourt Uniting and have hope of great things ahead.
church council
jane
chair of council
As Council Chairperson for several years, Jane leads a team of dedicated Christians who seek to discern the will of God in the spiritual life and management of the Dernancourt Uniting Church.
She was raised in the Lutheran Faith, and joined the fledgling Uniting Church when she migrated to Australia in 1972. Being retired, she has time to be involved in many aspects of the church’s life, including singing group, worship leader, sewing banners and working with other volunteers in the Outreach program.
She strongly believes faith in action by working along side others is the way to model God’s love and caring nature.
Barry
chair of congregation
Barry and his family have been members of the Dernancourt congregation for over 40 years and they love its welcoming and caring feel.
He is passionate about the lifechanging difference that Christ’s love for each of us makes to the quality of what we give and what we receive out of life. He loves the way the Uniting Church operates without hierarchy meaning that everyone has unique gifts to offer (not just the pastor) which in turn gives everyone a role in the church’s life, outreach and decisions.
He also feels very connected to the significant priority that the Uniting Church gives to addressing social justice issues in our neighbourhood, nationally and internationally.
